This place is extremely charming and enjoyable. Conveniently located on a beautiful block on Magazine Street, it is very peaceful and close to bars, restaurants and shopping. Raynelle, the owner of the b&b, was very nice and accommodating, which was soooo refreshing after a series of travel mishaps coming from Northern California. We stayed in the Porch room, which was much nicer than in the photos. It has gorgeous old hardwood floors, very high ceilings and a really cute kitchen area. My only complaint was that the bathroom was a bit small, but that was a fairly minor drawback. You can't beat this b&b, especially for the price and location.

This was a lovely place - totally unexpected for the price. The 12 foot ceilings, wood floors and antique fixtures give it such a romantic feel, and the neighborhood is perfect. The hosts were scarce, but we like it that way (call me antisocial - I just want to spend time with the people I brought with me). Breakfast, too, is minimal - but who wants to fill up before a busy day? Again, I prefer it that way. The website doesn't do it justice, so don't judge by those photos. Just go.

First trip to New Orleans and our first time staying at a bed and breakfast...we loved it! The location in perfect, in the middle of the Garden District, close to the St. Charles Streetcar. Many restaurants and shopping destinations are within walking distance. The host was very friendly and helpful, but also made sure guests enjoyed their privacy. We stayed in the Rose Room which also have a mini kitchenette and an en suite bathroom. Breakfast is provided but is a basic offering of milk, orange juice, yogurt, cereal, and assorted pastries. I feel like that is perfect because most people want to go out and eat breakfast/brunch -- or at least I do! I feel that staying in an older house like this, definitely provided us with a unique experience in New Orleans. I found the rates to be extremely reasonable, given the location. We are already wanting to plan another trip to NOLA, and we will return to this bed and breakfast, and recommend to friends.

Raynell was a terrific host for our first visit to New Orleans. The location was great and the house was beautiful. The Magazine is a great neighborhood and she was an excellent source of information and ideas for her native city. We would wholeheartedly recommend a stay.

I adore the Garden District B&B! Ray was extremely charming, accommodating, friendly, helpful, can't say enough good things about her. The house is a beautiful old building in the heart of the Garden District. We stayed in the Rose room and it was so cute! I loved that we had a mini kitchen that was separate from the bedroom. They left us milk and OJ in the fridge, along with some yogurt and cereal if you want it. From the B&B you can walk to a lot of great places on Magazine Street, it's only a few blocks to the streetcar, and I swear everywhere in the Garden District smells like gardenias (my favorite). A much welcome scent after smelling stale beer and ('scuze my French) piss in the French Quarter. Stay here! You won't regret it.

My first time in New Orleans, and this was the perfect place to stay. It's affordable, very clean, and quiet. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful! There's lots of great places to walk around and see. Plus, you can hop on the Street Car and head toward the French Quarter or just enjoy a stroll there! I will definitely stay here again!

Basically, I review things I like, and I avoid the ones I don't. So, 5 stars is for the style to each room, the kindness of the hosts, and the location. If you are looking for always-present hosts or actual breakfasts, you are in the wrong place. But we love it just the way it is. A forced breakfast isn't our style, and we love, love, love having refrigerators in the rooms. We have been here 4 years in a row, and we plan to come again year after year.

This is a fantastic bed and breakfast. We went thinking we could be nicely halfway between the CBD and a friend's wedding in Audobon park. That's true, but Izzy and I found ourselves spending most of our time at the shops and restaurants right on Magazine St. going for blocks and blocks in each direction. We stayed in one of the porch suites. The sitting room is on the front of the house, with a balcony overlooking the street. The sound of passing cars is gone by the time you're in the actual bedroom, which is inside from the sitting room. So you know, the breakfast is self-serve continental, with cereal, yogurt, juice, and milk in a mini-fridge in the room, and fruit and pastries in the living room downstairs. If we were staying out in the country, I'd be bothered that there wasn't a full breakfast, but in New Orleans, it's perfect. You can eat breakfast whenever you feel like it, and you can decide to go out for breakfast or brunch at restaurants around town without feeling like you're wasting the breakfast that comes with the room. All in all, it was a great trip, and the Garden District Bed & Breakfast was the perfect place to stay.

My husband and I spent just about a week here at the Garden District B&B this past May. When travelling, we tend to avoid the bigger name hotels in favor of local, boutique hotels and this totally fit the bill. What a delightful building, neighborhood and stay. We stayed in a balcony room and were just thrilled with the little details--like the high ceilings, wooden floors and the big windows that opened up to chairs so that we could relax outside in the evenings. Breakfast was left downstairs in the common entrance and consisted of a variety of goodies, which suited us just fine. We also received fresh milk and juice, as well as yogurt and cereal restocked in our fridge/room every day at no charge. Mega-plus for that. The surrounding neighborhood is really a delight just to stroll about for a while and there are lots of eating and drinking options to choose from. Not to mention the shopping!!! Oh, and parking was ridiculously easy. Coming from Chicago, this was an absurd plus to us. And did I mention the St. Charles Streetcar is a short walk away? Plus, the hotel had more reliable wifi than I've experienced at more big-name places. I think our only complaints were that our mattress was mega-soft, which killed my back a bit and our bathroom was kind of weirdly outside our actual room. We didn't have to share it, we just weren't crazy about the set-up, though I suspect that's more just how the building was built. That said, the plusses SOOOO outweigh the negatives. The owners were just wonderful to us from the second I emailed a request for a room. they were prompt in confirming, setting up a deposit, and even called to explain why they would need the deposit. The house is clean and you have tons of privacy. We would not hesitate to come back here on our next trip, or to recommend it to friends.

I stayed here a couple months ago with my girlfriend. The rooms were really nice and quaint. And big! The hostess was wonderful and provided information on good spots to eat in the neighborhood. If I'm down in New Orleans again, I'm going back.

I LOVE this Bed and Breakfast. I have stayed here twice and been extremely satisfied both times. The owners are delightful, the setting is picturesque, the neighborhood is quiet and convenient to lots of cool New Orleans stuff to do--both touristy and local. The rooms are gigantic, clean, and very affordable. Thanks for a great stay! (and for calling me to tell me that I had left a power adaptor behind!)
